Birth Day

My Granny Vera recalls the night when my Mom called and said it’s time. It was 11:45 p.m. on the 23rd of February in the middle of the night…way before cell phones were in the picture. The due date was two days earlier, but Mom really wanted to have me on my Dad’s birthday, the 24th. Granny Peggy went by and picked up Granny Vera and they headed for Wichita Falls. They expected Mom and Dad to already be at the hospital. But, they weren’t…they had waited for them to arrive.

Mom was looking out the window, watching and waiting, then when the moms pulled up she grabbed her coat and was out the door. Dad drove and on the one-way street to the hospital he kept stopping for every red light. Granny Peggy finally said, “Dennis, I think it’s okay to run the red lights, it’s two in the morning.”

All the way to the hospital Mom didn’t have contractions and was afraid that it might be a false alarm. But, upon arriving the contractions resumed. A nurse introduced herself to them, “I’m your nurse and I’ll be with you until 7:00 in the morning”. My Mom thought, “Well, I won’t be here that long.” Well, 7:00 a.m. came and went.

The grandpas had plenty of time the next morning to get there. In the middle of a contraction, my Mom squeezed the molasses out of Granny Vera’s hand and kicked up one of her legs. Dad saw a little bit of blood and was oughta there. Mom remembers being transferred from gurney to gurney, a bright light, some gas and that’s it! I was born at 9:34 a.m. (I’m not even gonna tell you how bad they had to cut her.) Everyone had gone to breakfast except Grandpa R.T. Mom roused and looked at him. He said, “Sis, it’s a girl. And we can’t send her back! She’s too big.”

Whose boots...?

Awhile back, the Lord got a kick out of me. I'm just sure of it! I planned my whole day and he laughed. "In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Prov 16:9 I even had the thought, 'Lord, I am on your wave length today.' LOL

My plans: check out Kia's classroom, lunch with Kellen, lesson #8, etc. Then, what I call distractions or even nuisances occured. (Were they of You?) Phone calls, Kent had the car, lesson #9, Kia was sick and wasn't even at school. I'm usually a shoot from my hip, roll with the punches, land on my feet sort of girl. Here I am trying to do better, be more prepared--organized, even.

But, what's crazy is...I was totally and utterly prepared FOR THE WRONG LESSON! Lord, people like me drive people like Nancy, Jill, Debbie and Tara to drinkin' hard liquor! HELP! These shoes don't fit--they're too BIG!

O my...

Valentine's Day came Today!!! Since we will be on a business trip on our anniversary, Kent took extra measures to NOT mess up. He's a gem!!! Or else I'm a meany-bohind. In jest, dear, in jest. At any rate, let me tell you this..."I love my husband and not just because of the roses!" He is a Jesus Rock! Happy V-day & Anniversary, Honey! I'm glad you're mine!

It's always an adventure...

...with my kitty kats. Little did I know that this scene (seen below) was above my front door during the baby shower, no doubt. Our cat, Boots, will climb the screen door to peer into the house when he wants to come in or show off. I knew that awhile ago he took one of his kills, a fat mouse, up the door into the transom for bragging rights, but I didn't know that he swabbed the upper door post with its' blood. Until...

Tessa came by for a visit last Monday....and thought to herself...'Wow, Tammie really is radical about Jesus the Jew. She is even putting blood on her doorposts.' LOL! When she brought this to my attention, I quickly gave credit where credit is due! Boots is the radical Jew lover who prays for the peace of Israel and spreads the news that, "Jesus Saves!"
