Sin, Sin!

Call sin, sin in my life. I officially give up my rights to ever be angry. If I resist, throw this blog and Cyle's article up in my face, K? Read Cyle's article, March 27th, "Who Is That Guy?", to see what I'm talking about...

Childlike Eyes

Out of the blue my nephew said, "MiMi, I know why God made us." I said, "Oh, you do?" "Yea," he stated, "so that when we die we can keep Him company."

Ya know, that was the plan! His choice was to create us for relationship with HIM. And He wants us to choose a relationship with Him, too. I think that that is why he put that darn tree in the garden in the first place. Otherwise, we'd be forced into the relationship. He wants us to want Him as much as He wants us. It's best seen through the eyes of a six year old child...we were made for His pleasure.

~Hang Loose~

Whew, I was just tempted to ‘graffiti’ my name on the airplane wall by the window. I guess I am a bit overjoyed to have a seat on yet another skin-of-my-teeth standby flight. My pencil brushed the wall as I wrestled it from my zipped bible cover. Remember the mark I left on the auditorium seat, back in good ‘ole SHS? How embarrassing.

Anyhow, I’m leaving SFO, San Francisco Airport, from Boise on my way to L.A.—God thrilled me with a fab sunrise. This window seat on the right side of the aircraft wasn’t my seat to begin with, but two stingy business men didn’t want to snuggle-up as I tried to move one of them out of my seat, 22A, into 22B by 22C. This guy had claimed my assigned seat, 22A, for his very own. And Mr. 22C, the larger of the two, pointed to an empty window seat across the aisle, 22F. I kindly obliged as did 22D and 22E. I smiled a large and in-charge grin and said, “Excuse me, excuse me…I just wanna go home.” 22C rebutted, “Where’s home?” TEXAS!

So, that’s how I became 22F and proud of it! And that’s how I came upon the window with the view. It was a breathtaking view of the San Fran bay area as the sun peeked over the hills of an island. The next scenic overlook was a mountain range… ‘sorry for the interruption, I was just served my Canada Dry’…and there’s a river of clouds pouring through a valley. It doesn’t run like a river so maybe glacier-like is a more accurate description. It’s cool! The fact remains, I am on the wild side of the plane. 22A is sleeping with his mouth hangin’ wide open. 22C looks bored. Next stop LAX and I’m gonna be on the lookout for the Hollywood Hills.

The co-pilot just said 15 minutes after-the-hour for touchdown. Fifteen after what? I’ve had daylight savings and changed time zones so many times that I don’t know what time it is?!?!

Well, it turned out to be 8:15 a.m. as we landed on puffy cotton-ball clouds with next to no visibility and no Hollywood Hills. As we taxied along, we played chicken with a Hawaiian airplane. We won! I suppose the Hawaiian guys were hangin’ loose. And now I’m hangin’ loose cuz I actually have a seat assignment on this last leg to DFW.

I’m home! The fella that took my money at the toll booth said, “Wow, $71.00 for 7 days and 17 minutes in 2007.” Little did we both know the thank you gift that awaited me at home, a check for $700.00 from Linda to cover my expenses. The number 7? Perfect!

There’s no place like home and no better people than Linda. Mahalo!

God Thing~

Well, my uncle has been through a therapy session that I think every warm blooded American oughta take into consideration. The suggestion was made for him to create a survival kit for those times of overwhelming stress and anxiety. He was told to make a list of possible items that pertain to each of the five senses. His two favorite items that he listed for the sense of taste were sour gummy worms and black licorice.

Yesterday while browsing the Cabela's store, my aunt picked up about six candy items to take to the hospital for my uncle. She walked in and presented him with part of his surprise, a package of sour gummy worms and black licorice. He asked, "Did someone from here call you?" She assured him that they hadn't called and that it was a God-incidence, a.k.a. God thing.

Another God thing happened this morning. Last night, my uncle shared the 'rest' of the list of favorites. One of the favs for the sense of hearing was a duck call. A friend and business associate stopped by the house this morning and mentioned that someone from work wanted to do something special for Leroy. The guy has a talent...making homemade duck calls out of wood and would be starting one for Leroy. Donna and I shot each other a quirky glance and busted out laughing..."dudu dudu"...another God thing!!!

Playhouses & Castles

I spent some time with Dalynn, Laurie and Jarried this afternoon. The children, all younger than 3rd grade, who just lost their young mother last week to pneumonia and the enemy. Their house was full of loving relatives. And they were playing in the backyard.

After talking to Dalynn a bit, she said, "Did you know my Mommy is with Jesus?" I assured her that she was absolutely right and that that is why I was there. "How did you know where to find us, she asked? Do you wanna see our playhouse?" We played and played and played.

I told her that I had seen her Mommy's body at the funeral home, the body that she left behind so that she could be in God's big big house. Dalynn, Laurie and I sang the Big Big House song, motions and all. I explained that she could see her Mommy again someday because of Jesus.

After petting every dog, horse and cat that we could catch, Jarried took me to a most special place called the castle. The castle is a big pile of dirt that was dug from a pit for trash. I trudged the side of the hill and Jarried said, "Hey, here's the laddu." Oh, I'm sorry; “I'll use it next time around.” Then the highlight was sliding down the hill on some plastic thingiemabob.

It was hard to say goodbye...wait, no it wasn't because I'll see them again soon. I cannot imagine how much harder it will be for them to say goodbye tonight when they see her body for the first time or tomorrow when they put her in the ground. But, this I do know...today we played in a 'play' house and a 'play' castle, but she, Dana Beck, is playing in God's Big Big House where he had a room prepared just for her. It's not goodbye, just see ya later.
